Three members of the University of Rochester track & field team secured Liberty League weekly honors with their performances at Sunday's Cardinal Last Chance Meet, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Sophomore
Nora Chen was named the Liberty League Women's Track Performer of the Week, senior
Jordan Johnson received Liberty League Men's Field Performer of the Week honors, and first-year
Greg Palma was recognized as the Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
Chen had a strong meet on Sunday, competing at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Last Chance Meet, earning wins in both the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay. The sophomore moved up to No. 3 on the Division III performance list this season in both events, running a new school record time of 1:00.40 in the hurdles, while helping the relay post a time of 3:43.84.
Johnson captured the hammer throw title and earned third place in the discus for Rochester this weekend, competing at the Cardinal Last Chance Meet at St. John Fisher in Pittsford, NY. The senior won the hammer with a toss of 58.06 meters, and added a mark of 46.29 meters in the discus, with both distances hitting the AARTFC standard.
Palma secured a spot at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships with a 4th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles on Sunday at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Last Chance Meet. Palma's time was 55.74 seconds, a season-best for the rookie, which ranks as the fourth quickest in the Liberty League this season.
