GENEVA, OH – University of Rochester women's track & field senior
Megan Bell won her heat in the 800-meter prelims to secure a spot in Saturday's final on day two of the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at The SPIRE Institute on Friday.
Running in the third and final heat of the 800-meter prelims, Bell led wire-to-wire to secure one of two automatic qualifying spots in Saturday's final. The senior crossed the finish line in 2:09.48, 0.12 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the heat, and the second-fastest time in the prelims overall.
Bell opened the preliminary heat with a 1:03.99 split, the second-fastest opening 400 meters among all 21 competitors, before finishing the second lap in 1:05.50 to cross the finish line in 2:09.48.
With nine events complete, MIT currently leads the women's field with 29 points, with Wisconsin-Eau Claire and WashU close behind in second and third place with 27 and 20 points, respectively.
The Yellowjackets will be back on the track for the final day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 23 in Geneva, OH. Bell will get day three started for UR with the 800-meter final at 3:00 p.m., with
Nora Chen running in the 400-meter hurdles final at 3:25 p.m.
Bell and Chen, along with
Eva Ciuffetelli and
Raquella Casserino, will then wrap up the 'Jackets' outdoor season with the 4x400-meter relay finals at 5:00 p.m., the final event of the 2025 Outdoor Championships.
