Cole Goodman, a senior member of the University of Rochester men's track and field team, was presented as the winner of the Louis Alexander Alumni Award from the department of Athletics and Recreation for the 2024-25 academic year.

Goodman received his award at the annual Rochester Athletics Awards Banquet, which took place at the Frederick Douglass Ballroom on Monday evening and featured seven major department awards distributed outstanding student-athletes and teams on the River Campus.

This award is presented to a male member of the senior class who has made an outstanding contribution to the life of the College through his significant achievements in athletics and general student activities; and whose character and leadership qualities have been a wholesome influence on his fellow students.

Goodman rose to the top of his sport last spring, capturing the NCAA Division III title in the triple jump at the outdoor track and field championship. Overall throughout his career, the senior is a 7-time First Team All-American from the USTFCCCA, a feat that includes earning four top-3 finishes at the Division III national championships.

Last summer, the Guttenberg, New Jersey native also represented the University on a national stage, competing at the United States Olympic Trials in the triple jump. He continued his appearances at USA national meets this past winter, taking part in the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships, finishing inside the top-10 in the triple jump.

Overall, he holds four University of Rochester and four Liberty League association records, coming in both the long jump and triple jump. On the Division III all-time performance list, Goodman ranks sixth in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump events.

Goodman has served as a Rochester track and field team captain, received Dean's List recognition, is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and has contributed to the University's Black Student Athlete Coalition (BSAC). He is set to earn his degree in computer science from the University later this month.

Louis Alexander coached basketball and baseball at Rochester, winning nearly 400 games. He served as Chairman of the Department of Physical Education and Director of Athletics. He was inducted into the Athletics & Recreation Hall of Fame on September 25, 1992 and the Palestra was dedicated in his name on December 6, 1968.
