Two members from the University of Rochester golf team, sophomore
Shibo Wang and first-year
Alvin Su, have been named PING Division III All-Americans as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.
Â
Both Su and Wang earn Honorable Mention All-America awards for their efforts on the course this season, making 2025 the third straight season the Yellowjackets have had an All-American. This season is the first time since 1990 in which Rochester has had two golf All-American selections in the same year, when Lance Holbert and Chuck Calcagni were named.
Â
The two All-America awards push Rochester's total to 31 all-time since the awards inception back in the 1950's. Su and Wang become the 20th and 21st individuals in Rochester golf history to earn All-American recognition.
Â
Su finished the year as Rochester's top golfer in terms of scoring average, setting a new program-record with a 72.81 average across 23.5 rounds. The rookie ended the season ranked #74 in the Division III Scoreboard/Clippd rankings and was the number one ranked player in Region II.
Â
Earlier this spring, Su was a Second Team All-Liberty League and Second Team All-UAA selection, while also was one of five All-Region selections from Rochester. The first-year closed his season with a terrific effort at the NCAA Division III Championships, ending in a tie for 20th among 225 golfers after shooting a total score of 295 (7-over) at nationals. His performance at NCAA's, along with a full body of work for the season, merited Su a spot on the Division III All-Freshman team, an honor bestowed to Wang last season.
Â
Wang, a repeat All-Region selection in 2024-25, also had an award-winning campaign. He was named Liberty League Player of the Year and added First Team honors in that conference and was a Second Team All-UAA performer.
Â
On the course, Wang finished with a 73.40 scoring average, was medalist at the Farmingdale Spring Invitational and had nine rounds at/or below par during the season. He was steady all season long, recording four top-25 results, and finished tied for 40th among the field at NCAA's, steadily improving over all four rounds, finishing at 300 (12-over) for the 72-hole event.
Â
As a team, Rochester captured the Liberty League title in 2024-25, were runner-up at the UAA Match Play Championship and finished in 11th place at the NCAA Division III Championships, its best result at that event since the mid-1990's. The Yellowjackets smashed the single-season scoring average record, shooting 292.94 strokes per round and captured five top-3 finishes across ten events during the season.
Â
Rochester's two golf All-American's push the academic year total to 24 across all sports at the University. That brings UR's all-time All-American total to 765.
