Day 5:

Along our way to Barcelona, we stopped in the coastal city of Tarragona. During our quick stop, we toured the city, stopping at the Roman Amphitheater and the Cathedral, before enjoying a traditional Spanish lunch in Plaza de la Fuente.
Our bus then arrived in Castelldefels, a beach town right outside of Barcelona, later that day. We lucked out with the weather during our tour of Park Güell, being able to get a clear view of Barcelona from the park's peak. After touring the park, we split up for dinner, some groups opting for an Italian meal while others chose a traditional Spanish dinner.
Day 6:
Our day started early on Sunday with a tour of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Being one of the most influential cities in Europe, we frequently stopped to admire the complex architecture and infrastructure created by Antoni Gaudi and others throughout the early 19th century. After walking through the city in the morning, we arrived at La Sagrada Familia for a guided tour of the Basilica. Upon arriving, we met up with Brian Amabilino Perez `22, who remained with the team throughout the next two days.
Later that day, we made our way to play in our last contest against Basketball Elite Barcelona. Like our other games, both teams battled for the entirety of the game, which ended on a buzzer-beater, game-winning shot from
Nate Beitel '26. We spent the rest of the night walking around Castelldefels, stopping for food at a great late-night sandwich shop near the beach.
Day 7:
Our last full day of the trip commenced with a tour of Passeig de Gracia, Ciutadella and Montjuic Hill. We walked through Passeig de Gràcia surrounded by amazing shops and more of Antoni Gaudi's best works in La Pedrera and Casa Battlo. We then passed through the Arc de Triomf on our way to Parc de la Ciutadella before hopping back on the bus to see the Olympic athletic site located in Montjuic, where the famous Dream Team won Gold during the 1992 Olympics. After the truly amazing views from Montjuic, we went back down to visit the Las Cuatro Columnas and the National Art Museum before our group split up for lunch and some shopping before heading back to the hotel.
After hours of walking throughout Barcelona, the rest of our day consisted of sitting by the beautiful beach in Castelldefels before heading back into Barcelona for our amazing farewell dinner consisting of never-ending tapas and Iberian Ribs. We couldn't have asked for a better send-off meal to conclude a memorable trip to Spain!
Thank you to all the University of Rochester staff, alumni, and families who helped make our foreign trip the highlight of all of our summers!
