GENEVA, NY – The University of Rochester women's tennis team wrapped up its opening weekend at the Mary Hosking Invitational, hosted by William Smith College at the Hobart & William Smith Tennis Center on Sunday.
After playing her way into the Flight 'C' singles semifinals on Saturday,
Hailey Kornbluth fell to RPI's Neha Saraswatula, 8-4 to finish off her weekend of singles play.
Also, in Flight 'C',
Natalie Debowski dropped her second consolation bracket matchup in the consolation semifinals to St. Lawrence's Ellie Mcdermed, 8-4, who would go on to win the consolation bracket.
Debowski and Kornbluth also teamed up in doubles action, having advanced to the Flight 'B' doubles final following a pair of wins on Saturday. There, the Yellowjacket first-year pair fell 6-1 to RPI's Gauri Muliyil and Victoria Sarabosing, ending the duo's run.
While in Flight 'A' doubles consolation action,
Lilly Caldwell and
Lauren Kallas fell, 6-3, to Ariane Karera and Mcdermed, of St. Lawrence.
Rochester is back in action on Friday, Sept. 26, when they wrap up their fall slate in Saratoga Springs, NY with the ITA Regional Championships, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
