SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The University of Rochester women's tennis team continued its fall season this weekend, competing at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Skidmore College.

In the main draw competition, the Rochester squad was represented by three singles players and two doubles teams. New in 2025, a 'B' draw was contested in both singles and doubles, giving five other singles players and two more doubles teams a chance to compete for URochester.

First-year
Hailey Kornbluth saw the most success overall in the event, with her tournament still ongoing, stretching into Sunday's final day. Kornbluth won four matches in the B flight singles draw, reaching the final against Neha Saraswatula of RPI.

Kornbluth opened her tournament with an 8-0 win over Bard's Catherine Chapel. After edging past Hamilton's Mona Farah 8-7 (5) in the second round, Kornbluth reached the semifinals with an impressive 8-2 win over Lila Freeman of Hamilton. During her final match on Saturday, Kornbluth advanced to the final with an 8-1 win, topping Ithaca's Aenessa Rylski.

In doubles, Kornbluth and first-year teammate
Natalie Debowski won two matches in the 16-team B draw, reaching the semifinals. In the opening round, UR won 8-6 against Mia Jacobs and Kaitlyn Hardy of William Smith.

The next round was the quarterfinals, with Debowski and Kornbluth earning an 8-7 (7-5) win against Martina Nicora and Madeleine Sutro of Ithaca. Rochester's duo needed a comeback in that one, winning in the tiebreak after rallying from 7-5 down on the scoreboard.

In the semifinals, Union's Sydney Alphabet and Calista Finkelstein ended Rochester's run, winning 8-5. Alphabet and Finkelstein ended up dispatching two Rochester teams in the B doubles draw, as the Union team won 8-2 in the quarterfinals against
Neha Dania and
Esther Wang. Dania and Wang topped Chapel and Natalie Lagunes of Bard 8-4 in the first round to advance in the B draw.

Elsewhere in the B singles draw, Dania won a pair of matches to reach the quarterfinals. In the opening round, the UR senior was an 8-3 winner over TCNJ's Anusha Perinkolam. During the second round, Dania matched up against Union's Jennifer Park and earned another win, this time posting an 8-5 score.

During the quarterfinals, Kornbluth's opponent in the final, Saraswatula, ended Dania's run with an 8-2 triumph. Both Wang and Debowski dropped decisions by an 8-2 score in their opening rounds of the B singles draw, while
Katie Yang battled Vassar's Sara Lippen to an 8-6 score, but unfortunately did not advance past the opening round.

In the main draw singles bracket, all three Rochester players were upended in their opening matches.
Lauren Kallas fell 6-2, 6-4 to Union's Chara Meidani. While
Jasmin Toor dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision against Victoria Sarabosing of RPI.
Lilly Caldwell battled in a three-set match against Megan McCusker of Union, but ended up dropping the match 1-6, 6-2, 10-7.

Both main draw doubles teams from Rochester dropped close matches as well. Caldwell and Kallas were upended 8-6 versus a team from Hamilton, while Toor and Yang lost 8-4 in a matchup with a team from Skidmore.

Closing out the weekend, Kornbluth will take to the court on Sunday at approximately 10 am in her B singles championship match. The ITA competition finishes off the Yellowjackets fall schedule of competition.
