‘Jackets Move to 8-0 with Dual-Win Over RIT

HENRIETTA, NY – The University of Rochester women's swimming & diving team ran its win streak to eight, opening the 2026 portion of its schedule with a 186.5-106.5 dual-meet win over RIT on Saturday afternoon at Judson Pool.
 
The win moves the Yellowjackets to 8-0 in dual-meet competition on the season, while the Tigers drop to 1-4.
 
URochester won 11 of 16 events and posted 28 top-three finishes in the victory, led by a trio of triple-winners in Sophia Dmytruk, Ariana Pasquella and Addison Powers. All three swam in the 'Jackets' 200-yard medley 'A' relay to open the meet, combining for a first-place time of 1:51.30 along with Julianne Weaver, while Phoebe Hamblett, Sarah Leevan, Olivia Dewar and Adele Hellstrom placed second with a time of 1:54.30.
 
Dmytruk picked up her first individual win in the 50-yard backstroke, topping the field with a 28.36-second time, with Hamblett on her heels in second place with a time of 29.23 seconds. Dmytruk later added her third win and second as an individual in the 50-yard butterfly, clocking in at 27.63 seconds.
 
Pasquella won both the 50 and 100-yard breaststroke, coming in first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 31.26 seconds, with Leevan following close behind in second (33.07). In the 100-yard breaststroke, Pasquella topped the podium with a time of 1:07.11, while Ally Mackey placed second with a time of 1:11.31.
 
Powers came in first in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 59.88 seconds, and then added another relay win in the 200-yard freestyle relay to wrap up the day, combining with Leevan, Hellstrom, and Morgan Edstrom for a first-place time of 1:41.11. UR's 'B' relay of Paige Stevenson, Paige Lovelace, Mackey and Hannah Gentile also made it on the podium, clocking in at 1:45.41.
 
Hellstrom was also a double-winner for Rochester, taking home the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (25.30), in addition to the 200-freestyle relay, with Weaver coming in second behind her with a time of 25.79 seconds.
 
Other winners on the day included Mackey, who led a trio of Yellowjackets in the 200-yard freestyle, Julia Sides in the three-meter dive and Amelia Hardiman in the 200 IM.
 
Mackey, along with Lovelace and Katelyn Packer, helped URochester sweep the 200 freestyle, taking home the top spot with a first-place time of 2:01.07, while Lovelace took second (2:04.62), and Packer finished third (2:04.69).
 
Sides won the three-meter dive with a 272.90 score, while Kaela Springer was URochester's top finisher on the one-meter board, scoring 231.20.
 
Hardiman and Pasquella took the top two spots in the 200 IM, with Hardiman touching the wall first in 2:13.96, while Pasquella came in second with a time of 2:15.64.
 
Rachel Ruminer was URochester's top finisher in the 1,000-yard freestyle, taking second place with a time of 11:28.64, while Ava Kaufman placed third, clocking in at 11:33.29.
 
In the 500-yard freestyle, Lovelace paced Rochester with a second-place finish and 5:33.58 time, just ahead of Packer, who came in third in 5:33.63.
 
Edstrom was the 'Jackets' top swimmer in the 100-yard freestyle, placing third with a time of 56.62. And in the 100-yard backstroke, Hardiman and Hamblett earned top-three finishes, with second and third-place results, respectively, and times of 1:01.05 and 1:02.09.
 
The Yellowjackets will wrap up their dual-meet schedule at home against Ithaca on Saturday, Jan. 24 with their Senior Day meet, beginning at 1:00 p.m. inside the Speegle-Wilbraham Center.
