‘Jackets Place Six Top-10 Marks on Second Day of UAAs

CHICAGO, IL – The University of Rochester women's swimming & diving team placed six new times on Rochester's top-10 performances list on the second day of the 2025-26 University Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the University of Chicago at the Ratner Athletic Center.
 
Rochester's 200-yard freestyle relay got things started in the evening's finals, with UR's 'A' relay of Morgan Edstrom, Adele Hellstrom, Addison Powers and Julianne Weaver finishing seventh with a time of 1:36.84, the sixth-fastest 200-freestyle relay in program history. While the 'Jackets' 'B' relay of Sarah Leevan, Izzy Stevenson, Hannah Gentile and Paige Lovelace came in 15th with a time of 1:42.54.
 
Hellstrom also swam in the evening's 50-yard freestyle 'C' final, having qualified in the morning's prelim. Hellstrom touched the wall in 24.14 seconds in the prelim, good for 22nd, and the No. 4 mark in program history, and then improved her time and spot in the evening's final, placing 18th with a time of 24.03 seconds, moving up to third on Rochester's top-10 performances list.
 
In the one-meter dive, both Kaela Springer and Julia Sides qualified for the consolation final by virtue of their top-16 finish in the prelim. Springer took 11th place in the prelims with 409.75 points, while Sides placed 14th with 373.45 points. Then in the consolation final, both improved their scores, with Springer coming in 12th with 420.0 points, and Sides notching 398.40 points to finish 13th.
 
In the prelims, Marlena Vieira and Lilia Mackenzie also dove for URochester, with Vieira earning an 18th-place result with her 337.05-point score, and Mackenzie finishing 20th with 327.05 points.
 
URochester's wrapped up the evening's finals with another relay, the 400-yard medley, with the 'Jackets' 'A' relay earning a sixth-place result. Sophia Dmytruk, Ariana Pasquella, Ally Mackey and Weaver combined for a time of 3:51.71, good for sixth place the No. 3 400-medley relay mark in program history. While Phoebe Hamblett, Leevan, Powers and Amelia Hardiman combined for a 4:02.22 time on the 'B' relay, good for 15th.
 
Mackey also placed the highest mark on URochester's top times list, earning one of two alternate spots in the 200 IM prelims. Mackey touched the wall in 2:09.34, the second-fastest 200 IM in program history and less than a second off the program record, good for 25th, while Ariana Pasquella took the other alternate spot, 26th, with the third-fastest 200 IM, clocking in at 2:09.46.
 
Elsewhere in the prelims, Lovelace led Rochester in the 500-yard freestyle, claiming an alternate spot with a 26th-place finish and 5:15.25 time, while Hamblett finished two spots behind her in 28th, clocking in at 5:16.81.
 
As a team, Rochester sits in seventh place with 261.5 points, with NYU leading the eight-team field with 708.5 points. Emory is in second with 678.5 points, while host Chicago is in third with 486 points.
 
Day three of the 2026 UAA Swimming & Diving Championships gets started on Friday, Feb. 13, at 10:00 a.m. CT with the 100-yard butterfly prelims.
