PITTSFORD, NY – The University of Rochester men's track & field team wrapped up its split-squad weekend on Saturday, with several athletes competing at Nazareth's D3 Elite Meet inside the Golisano Training Center.
Owen Hatungimana turned in Rochester's top result of the meet, taking first place in the 400-meter open race with a time of 51.96 seconds. Hatungimana was joined by a trio of Yellowjackets in the top 10 as well, as
Tyler Bernstein finished second, clocking in at 52.04 seconds, Max Freeman placed eighth (52.76s) and
Ivan Wolf-Mialky came in 10th (53.49s).
Diego De Los Santos added another top-three result to the 'Jackets' ledger in the 200-meter invite race, placing third with a time of 23.36 seconds, while Hatungimana and Bernstein took eighth and ninth in the 200-meter open race, with times of 23.53 seconds and 23.550 seconds, respectively.
In the distance events, Nolan Golthwaite placed 10th in the 3,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 9:19.73, while
Trevor Kuhlman was URochester's top finisher in the mile with a time of 4:36.83, good for eighth.
In the field events,
Sean Elliott and
Alex Hermann earned 31st and 32nd-place results in the shot put with their 10.80m and 10.76m tosses, respectively, while
Theo Mueller led UR in the high jump, tying for 13th place with a height of 1.73m.
The Yellowjackets are back in action next Friday, Feb. 20 when they return to the Golisano Training Center in Pittsford, NY for the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
