BIRMINGHAM, AL – University of Rochester men's track and field sophomore Emmett Hansen earned Second-Team All-America honors in the heptathlon with a 16th-place finish at the 2025-26 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

The 17th-seed heading into NCAAs, Hansen came into the day in 14th place in the heptathlon, with three events still to be contested, the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meters.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Hansen placed 17th overall with a time of 9.16 seconds, clocking in second in the final heat to earn 711 points.

Then in the pole vault, Hansen tied for seventh, clearing 4.25m. After passing on the first seven heights, Hansen needed just one try to make it over the 4.05m and 4.15m bars and then got over the 4.25m bar on his second try, before bowing out at 4.35m, earning 688 points.

And to wrap things up in the 1,000 meters, Hansen earned his best finish of the heptathlon, placing fourth with a time of 2:47.65. The sophomore earned 790 points with his time, running much of the 1,000 meters in third place before finishing fourth.

Overall, Hansen's 4,863 points were good for 16th, 624 points shy of Wisconsin-River Falls' Jacob Balcome, who took home the title with 5,487 points.

Hansen, in his first-career appearance at the NCAA Championships, earned his first-career All-America honor and is Rochester's third heptathlete to earn All-America honors in as many years.

Following a week off, the Yellowjackets will kick off the outdoor campaign inside Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m., hosting the University of Rochester Spring Opener.
