Rochester Women Take Third at All-Atlantic Region Championships

NEW YORK, NY – Powered by a pair of first-place finishes on the final day of competition, the University of Rochester women's track and field team earned a third-place finish at the 2025-26 All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at The Armory.
 
Molly FitzGibbons earned Rochester's first-event win of the day, running a season-best time in the mile to top the field with a time of 4:56.54.
 
Then, an event later in the 800 meters, Eva Ciuffetelli set a new meet record and personal-best time, clocking in at 2:11.07 to win the 800 meters. Ciuffetelli's time also currently ranks sixth on the NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying List.
 
A trio of other 'Jackets joined Ciuffetelli in the 800 meters, with Emily Dill finishing 26th (2:21.37), Rita Sciortino taking 32nd (2:22.47) and Peyton Classer placing 34th (2:22.61).
 
Rochester also saw scoring performances from Nora Chen in both the 60-meter hurdles and 200 meters, as well as from Riley Joseph in the 3,000 meters.
 
Chen, after breaking the school record in Friday's 60-meter prelims, clocked in at 8.87 seconds in the 60-meter hurdle finals, good for sixth. Chen later came in seventh in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line with a time of 25.18 seconds. Lizzie Merrill also ran the 200 meters alongside Chen, coming in 38th with a time of 26.70 seconds.
 
In the 3,000 meters, Joseph ran a new personal-best time of 10:08.14 to a fifth-place finish.
 
Elsewhere on the track, Raquella Casserino paced the Yellowjackets in the 400 meters, coming in 11th with a season-best time of 58.29 seconds.
 
In the 4x200-meter relay, Merrill, Ciuffetelli, Jordan Smith and Maya Hatch combined for a time of 1:46.74, good for 13th in the event.
 
And in the field events, Madison Vargas earned Rochester's top finish with a 13th-place result in the weight throw and 15.42m toss, while Ashleigh Barrett came in 27th in the triple jump with a 10.22m leap.
 
SUNY Geneseo took home the regional title with 82 points, closely followed by Ithaca with 70 points, and Rochester with 43 in the 53-team field.
 
Rochester will next await the announcement of the 2025-26 NCAA Division Indoor Track & Field qualifiers on Sunday, March 8, with the 2025-26 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships set for March 13-14 in Birmingham, AL.
