LEWISBURG, PA – A total of seven women's track athletes representing the University of Rochester team competed at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday, with all seven securing solid times, earning All-Atlantic Regional qualifying performances.
Highlighting the evening was the distance trio of seniors
Riley Joseph and
Alyssa Horng, along with junior
Ella Blau who set massive personal-best's in the 5000 meter and 10000 meter races.
Horng shaved nearly two minutes over her previous best in the 10k, finishing in 36:48.97 in the race, ranking 29th in a field of 41 runners. Blau bested her PR by a minute, crossing the finish in 34th place in a time of 37:10.30.
Joseph competed in the 5k and earned a time of 17:37.29, securing a 30-second personal best en route to a 72nd place result in a field of nearly 100 runners.
URochester's best finish on the day was from junior
Eva Ciuffetelli who placed 19th of 150 runners in the 800 meters. The juniors time was 2:13.17 and led a trio of Yellowjackets in the event.
Teammate
Emily Dill was 60th in 2:17.76 and
Rita Sciortino followed closely behind in 65th, crossing the finish line in 2:18.11.
Graduate student
Molly FitzGibbons has the highest ranked result from Saturday on the Division III performance list, ranking inside the top-20 after finishing the 1500 meter invite race in 4:32.22. She placed 25th of 84 runners in that event.
The rest of the Yellowjacket women's track and field squad is back in New York and set to compete on Sunday at the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational.
