BROCKPORT, NY – The University of Rochester women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the SUNY Brockport Multi and Invitational on Monday afternoon, with two individuals placing in the top-3 in the heptathlon competition.
Sophomore
Grace McInerney was second with a score of 3,625 points, while first-year teammate
Cassie Ward ended right behind in third, scoring 3,573 points. Senior
Julia Largett also competed and ended eighth with a score of 2,751 points across the seven individual events spanning Sunday and Monday.
On Monday, the long jump, javelin and 800 meters were contested.
During the day two competition, McInerney scored a win in the javelin, tossing a huge personal best of 25.52 meters, was second in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:33.51 and was fourth in the long jump, with a mark of 4.73 meters. McInerney scored 1,529 points during the final day, with her javelin result moving her from seventh to second in the overall standings.
For Ward, her marks were 4.83 meters in the long jump, 19.58 meters in the javelin and 2:33.61 in the 800 meters. She ended second, second and third, respectively. Her finishes resulted in 1,443 points on Monday.
Largett did not record a mark in the long jump, ended fourth in the javelin with an 18.64 meter toss and matched that finish in the 800 meters, crossing the finish in 2:37.29. That added 868 total points on day two.
URochester's next track competition is set for Sunday, with the Yellowjackets hosting the annual UR Alumni Invitational at Fauver Stadium and GLC Throws Area.
