VERONA, NY – The University of Rochester men's golf team moved up a spot into second place on the second day of the 2026 Liberty League Men's Golf Championship on Saturday at the Turning Stone Resort.
Through 36 holes, Rochester sits at eight-over-par, in second place, 11 strokes back of NYU, who leads the field through three days of competition at three-under-par. Hobart rounds out the top three teams at 15-under, with the Yellowjackets having shot a team-best three-over par on day two of the championship.
Alvin Su once again led the Yellowjackets on the course, shooting two-under-par to sit at three-under for the tournament, good for third place on the individual leaderboard. Su tallied a birdie and bogey to finish the front nine and an even par, and then added three more birdies on the back nine to come into the clubhouse with a back-nine score of 34, two-under, and two-under for the day.
Anderson Palm also shot under par on the day, carding a 71, one-under, 18-hole score. The first-year led the 'Jackets with five birdies, three on the front nine and another two on the back nine, and will head into the final day of the championship at two-over, tied for eighth individually.
Rochester's next highest finisher on day two was
Arjun Aujla, who shot two-over and sits at one-over, seventh on the individual leaderboard. Aujla tallied a trio of birdies to shoot two-under on the front nine, and came into the club at two-over for the day after carding 40 on the back nine.
Josh Pethel rounded out Rochester's top four golfers on the second day of competition, shooting four over. Pethel, along with
Galen Fowles, both sit at nine-over for the championship through two rounds, tied for 19th. Pethel hit a pair of birdies on the front nine and one on the back nine, while Fowles, who came in at plus-five for the day, notched a birdie on the front nine and shot an even par on the back nine, paring all nine holes.
The Yellowjackets will look to make their final push when they return to the course on Sunday, April 26 for the final day of the 2026 Liberty League Championship, teeing off at Turning Stone Resort beginning at 11:00 a.m.
