Biography

At UR 2016-17: Finished remarkable Yellowjacket career by reaching the finals of the CSA Individual Championship (Pool Division), becoming the second UR player ever to do so, upsetting the tournaments #2 and #3 seeds in the process...Also, joined teammate Ryosei Kobayashi as the first two Rochester squash players ever to earn four straight 1st Team All-American honors from the CSA...Was a finalist for the CSA's Skillman Award, and was selected as a 1st Team All-Liberty League member...Finished the season with an 18-3 record, ending tied for the team lead in wins, going 15-2 in dual competition, playing at #1, #2 and #3...Had a team high nine wins over nationally ranked opponents, including a big win over Rick Penders (#3) from Trinity during UR's 5-4 win over the top-ranked Bantams on Jan. 21...Started season with 11 straight victories and ended career with a 70-15 overall record in a UR uniform...Ranks first in school history in career wins and career winning percentage (.824)...Was a 3-time Liberty League Performer of the Week and was selected to the conference All-Academic team...Named UR Athletic Department's John Vitone Sportsmanship Award winner.

At UR 2015-16: Played at the #1 position in 15 matches for Rochester, posting a 17-5 overall record (12-3 duals)...Reached the finals of both the US Squash Intercollegiate Doubles Championship (with Neil Cordell) and the Price-Bullington Invitational to start the season...Ended up being named a 1st Team All-American for the third straight season after reaching the semifinals of the Pool Division at the CSA Individual Championships at the end of the year, where he would drop a match to teammate Ryosei Kobayashi...Ranked #4 by the CSA in the year end rankings...Team high 11 wins over ranked opponents including going 3-0 at the CSA Potter Cup Tournament  with wins over #11 Marwan Mahmoud of Penn and #9 Rick Penders of Trinity, helping the Yellowjackets reach the national title match for the first time in school history...Earned match clinching point over Harvard's top player David Ryan (#4 ranking) in UR's 5-4 victory over the #3 Crimson on Jan. 23...Named 1st Team All-Liberty League and was a 2-time Liberty League Performer of the Week during the season.

At UR 2014-15: Again was one of UR's top players, earning second straight 1st Team All-American honor...Led Rochester with 20 match wins to go against five losses...15-2 mark in duals playing at #1 and #2 positions...Was 12-5 against nationally ranked opponents...Named All-Liberty League and was a four time Liberty League Athlete of the Week...Also, earned CSA Player of the Week honors after earning the match clinching point at #1 against top-ranked Trinity on Jan. 24, sending the Bantams to their only loss of the season...Won 11 matches by 3-0 scores...Reached 2nd round of the Pool (A Division) of the CSA Individual Championships...Played in the final of the Price-Bullington Invitational in November after defeating #3 ranked Ahmed Khalek of Bates in five-setter...Paired with teammate Neil Cordell to capture season opening US Squash Doubles Championship, becoming first all-international pair to win the tournament title...Ranked #10 individually by the CSA following the season.

At UR 2013-14: Had one of the best seasons in the history of UR squash, posting a 15-2 record and ended up being named 1st Team All-American by the CSA...Went 13-1 in dual matches, including going 5-1 against nationally ranked opponents with his best win coming against #7 Abhishek Pradhan of F&M in the 2nd round of the CSA Pool (A) Division of the Individual Championships, advancing to the quarterfinals...Won first 12 matches to start career, nine by 3-0 scores...Ended season being ranked #9 by the College Squash Association...Earned All-Liberty League honors and was LL Performer of the Week on Jan. 27.

HS: Attended CBTis #39 School in Aguascalientes, Mexico...Played soccer and squash for the Wildcats.

Prep: Earned five gold medals in the Junior Panamerican Championships playing squash...Also, earned five golds at the Mexican National Games...Placed 1st in Canadian Junior Open and ended in 3rd place at the US Junior Open.
