LANCASTER, PA – The men's and women's swimming and diving teams had some very good individual results in a four-team meet at Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday.
In terms of straight-up scores, the women were defeated by Carnegie Mellon (163-94), Franklin & Marshall (148-114), and Washington & Lee (160-102). The women lost to Carnegie Mellon (203-59) and Washington & Lee (186-76), then defeated Franklin & Marshall, 160-102.
All four schools competed in a diving invitational at Carnegie Mellon University. Rochester finished fourth on the one meter board and fifth on the three meter board. The women were fourth on both boards.
Val Atwood was an individual swimming winner for the women and Sam Wilshire fit the same category for the men. Atwood won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.87, closely followed by teammate Karen Meess (1:01.86). She was fifth in the 50 free (25.81) and second in the 200 backstroke (2:13.97) with Meess right behind her again (2:14.43).
Wilshire was first to the wall in the 100 fly (52.05). He was fifth in the 200 fly (1:58.29) and sixth in the 100 free (49.65).
Kevin Howard finished fourth in the 100 backstroke for the men (55.44) and fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:01.93). Jen Chung was fourth in the 200 breaststroke for the women (2:35.40) with Bridget Festa fifth (2:36.25). Cailee Caldwell was fourth in the 200 IM in 2:21.66.
The women's 200 medley relay (Atwood, Jessica Indyk, Stephanie Bolin, Dayna Jacob) was clocked in 1:54.62. The 400 free relay (Meess, Jacob, Farrell Cooke, Caldwell) swam a 3:46.19.
In the men's races, the 200 medley relay (Howard, Adam Bossert, Wilshire, Alex King) was timed in 1:39.26. The 400 free relay (Bossert, King, Christian Vu, Evan Jones) produced a 3:20.64.
In the diving events at Carnegie, Elliot Lasher had a 334.95 on the one meter board. Zach Howard (280.65) was sixth and Ethan Siegler was seventh (210.05). Lasher was fifth on the three meter board (340.20). Howard was sixth (261.65) and Siegler seventh (225.05).
Sara Spielman was fourth for Rochester on the one meter bord (304.25). Megan Braun was sixth (301.55) with Rebecca Baer seventh (267.70). Braun was fourth on the three meter board (334.50 with Spielman (325.55) and Baer (287.65) next.
