NCAA Regional Ends With UR in 13th

MT. MORRIS, NY- The University of Rochester women's cross country team placed 13th of 38 teams on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships at Letchworth State Park.
 
Rochester scored a total of 419 points, beating over half the field.  Conference rivals NYU (UAA) and St. Lawrence (NYSCTC) took home 1st and 2nd place respectively in the event with TCNJ, SUNY Geneseo and Oneonta State rounding out the top five.
 
UR's top runner was sophomore Catherine Knox who placed 37th in the race, running the 6k course in 22:41.1.  Senior Danielle Bessette crossed the tape in 62nd place with her time of 23:02.3.
 
A pair of juniors, Jennifer Klemenz and Victoria Stepanova were the Yellowjackets third and fourth finishers.  Klemenz was 81st (23:23.3) while Stepanova was 111th (23:49.5).  Junior Caitlyn Garbarino rounded out the UR scoring with her time of 24:06.9, good for 132nd.
 
Rochester's displacers were junior Kathryn Woodworth (166th) and sophomore Anya Joynt (199th).
 
The overall race winner was Grace Tilton of RPI, she crossed the finish line in 21:07.0, over eight seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
