Box Score UNION, N.J. – Mark Lawlor picked the perfect time to score his first career goal and with it, he propelled the University of Rochester to a significant road victory in men's soccer.

Lawlor drove home a rebound with 46 seconds to play as Rochester defeated Kean University, 1-0, on Saturday evening. The win gives Rochester a 7-4-3 overall record heading into the final three games of the season – all in the University Athletic Association. Kean dropped to 10-7-1 with one conference game left – in midweek.

Rochester pushed forward with passion, especially in the closing minutes, in search of the goal that would win the match. Kean committed a foul just outside the penalty area and Rochester was awarded a free kick. Alex Swanger took it. His shot caromed off the crossbar. Lawlor got there first and knocked the rebound past Kean goalkeeper Brad Watkins.

In the last seven minutes, Jeff Greblick and Ben Swanger forced saves from Watkins. Shane Dobles took a corner kick and shots followed from Seth Davis-Brown and Keith Grafmeyer.

Watkins finished with four saves in 45 minutes. He faced 14 shots. Nick Pavlichko played the first 45 minutes underneath the woodwork. He had two saves and faced eight shots. The defense cleared another shot off the line.

For Rochester, Michael Shatkin made seven saves to earn his fifth solo shutout this season.

Each team hit the woodwork. Greblick was denied midway through the first half when his shot went off the post. With just over two minutes gone in the second half, Kean's Sevag Kherlopian headed the ball off the post.
