Sophomore Katie Knox and senior
Danielle Bessette of the University of Rochester women's cross country team were recognized Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic selections.
Knox earns the award for the second straight year and Bessette is a first time honoree. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.30 or greater and must have finished among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships. Knox finished in 37th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional while Bessette finished in 62nd place at the race.
Bessette is an English major while Knox is studying Mechanical Engineering at Rochester.
Both runners helped Rochester earn the USTFCCCA Scholar Team Award for the 2013 season as well. It is the ninth straight year that UR has won that award.
