'Jackets Bounce Back With 8-1 Win Over Princeton

The Rochester squash team picked up a nice bounceback victory on Sunday afternoon at the Lyman Squash Courts, defeating #13 ranked Princeton 8-1.
 
5th-ranked UR moves to 3-1 on the year, closing the first semester of play with a victory after dropping its first match of the season yesterday by a 6-3 score to #6 Penn.  Princeton meanwhile, drops to 2-3 on the season.
 
The Yellowjackets got a pair of 3-0 wins on the day, coming from Ashley Davies at the top spot over Clark Doyle (11-7, 11-3, 11-3) and from Lawrence Kuhn at the fourth string (11-8, 11-7, 11-7) over Cody Cortes.
 
UR's Ricardo Lopez earned a 3-1 win over Adhitya Raghavan at #2, dropping the first game 11-7 before rattling off wins of 11-2, 11-4 and 11-3 to earn the point.  Matthew Toth posted a big rally, falling behind 0-2 at #3 against Daelum Mawji before storming back for a 3-2 victory.

Riedelsheimer won 3-2 at #9 for the Yellowjackets.

First-year Thijs Van Der Pluijm was a four-game winner over Alexander Engstrom at #5 (11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-3) with sophomore Marcus Sim also winning 3-1 at #6, defeating Gabriel Morgan (11-7, 5-11, 11-2, 11-6).
 
Rochester also took two of three matches in the bottom third of the ladder, with Rodrigo Porras and Alex Riedelsheimer earning wins at #8 and #9 respectively.  Porras defeated Duncan Joyce 3-1 (7-11, 11-0, 12-10, 11-5), while Riedelsheimer won in five games over Henry Parkhurst (11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7).
 
The Tigers got their lone point in the match from Hao-Chen Cheng who won 3-2 over Cesar Segundo at #7.

In the exhibition tenth match, Siddhant Iyer took the first set 11-5 against Adham Elsherbiny and then won the match when his opponent was forced to retire.
 
The Yellowjackets begin play in the second semester on January 12th with a home match against Drexel University at noon in the Lyman Center.
