BOSTON, MA – In its second action of the abbreviated fall schedule, the University of Rochester rowing team competed at one of the most prestigious regattas in the country on Sunday, rowing at the 2022 Head of the Charles.
Rochester entered its varsity eight boat in the collegiate eights race and picked up some nice wins with its 18th place result. Overall, 36 boats competed, representing a variety of divisions, including 14 of the 15 teams ranked in the spring 2022 final Division III poll.
The Yellowjackets team finished with a time of 17:23.61 across the course setup along the Charles River.
Rochester, ranked 13th in the final spring 2022 Division III poll finished ahead of ranked teams Ithaca (#4), Colby (#11), Coast Guard (#9), Smith (#14) and Washington College (#15) during Sunday's racing.
Mercyhurst University, representing Division II, earned the overall win in the race, clocking in with a time of 16:32.22. Division III's defending national champion and 2nd-ranked team Wellesley was the top D3 school, ending second in the race at 16:40.74.
Rochester rowing finishes up its fall racing schedule next Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
