WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – An improvement of eight strokes on day two moved the University of Rochester golf team up four spots on the leaderboard to finish in 6th place at the Williams Fall Invitational on Sunday at Taconic Golf Club.
Rochester as a team shot a 297 on Sunday, third best in the field on the tournaments final day, and ended with a 2-day score of 602 for the event.
Rensselaer earned the team title with a 583 score, while Skidmore finished second at 595, one stroke ahead of third place Babson. Host Williams (597) and Endicott (599) wrapped up the top-5 teams.
The Yellowjackets were led by
Jonathan Zou who finished in a tie for fourth place in the 94 player field. He shot a 1-over par round of 72 on Sunday, finishing at 145 overall. His round two scorecard featured an eagle on the par-5 first hole and a birdie on the par-3 ninth.
Kerry Wang ended in a tie for 19th place with a total score of 150 after the two days. Wang shot a stead round of 74 on Sunday, recording 14 pars, one birdie and three over par holes.
Senior
Brendan Frain was tied for 25th after the two round event, ending with a score of 151. He also shot 73 on Sunday, finishing his round with a solid back nine, 1-under after birdies on the 14th and 18th holes. His solid final round moved Frain up 28 spots on the individual leaderboard.
Rounding out UR's scoring golfers on day two was
Jeffrey Li who shot a 7-over round of 78. He finished tied for 51st overall with a total score of 157.
The final Yellowjacket in the field was
Gary Pan who shot 81 on Sunday. He ended with a score of 159 and finished in a tie for 60th place in the field.
Skidmore's Jack Walsh was the individual champion after ending with a score of 143.
Rochester is back in action in a few weeks at the Skidmore College Invitational on October 8-9.
