‘Jackets Score Fourth-Place Team Finish at Conference Challenge Cup

PITTSFORD, NY – The University of Rochester women's track & field finished fourth among a field of 10 and helped the Liberty League claim the conference cup championship at Saturday's Conference Challenge Cup, hosted by Nazareth College at the Golisano Training Center.
 
The Yellowjackets scored 59 points, just a point shy of third-place finisher St. John Fisher. SUNY Geneseo took home the women's team title with 143 points, while Ithaca finished second with 133.5 points.
 
UR and Ithaca's combined score of 192.50 beat out the SUNYAC's combined score of 180.0, giving the Liberty League the conference cup.
 
Seven Yellowjackets scored Top-5 finishes, led by victories from Kate Isaac in the 60-meter dash, and Susan Bansach in the 200 meters. Both Isaac and Bansbach tallied regional-qualifying scores, with Isaac leading the 60-meter pack with her 7.91 time, a new personal best, and Bansbach winning the 200-meters with a time of 25.82.
 
Bansbach added another Top-5 time and regional qualification to her tally, finishing fourth in the 60-meters, clocking in at 8.03, a new, personal best, while Isaac joined Bansbach in the Top-5 of the 200-meters, finishing fourth at 26.06 and also qualifying for regionals.
 
In the 400-meters, Megan Bell ran a personal best of 59.97, good for third and a regional-qualifying time.
 
Alicia Lawson turned in a Top-10 finish in the 5000-meters, running a 19:16.35, while Alyssa Horng scored a Top-3 finish in the "B" section, clocking in at third with a time of 19:42.42.
 
In the relays, both of the Yellowjackets' relay teams scored points to add to UR's tally. In the 4x200, the team of Annabelle Shanks, Megan Bell, Maya Hatch and Tina Kyriacou scored a second-place finish, clocking in with a time of 1:49.90.
 
While in the 4x400, Isaac, Carissa Minarovich, Jael Ernest Fleurant and Bansbach clocked in at 4:07.28, finishing fourth.
 
Ashleigh Barrett was UR's lone point-scorers of the afternoon in the long jump, placing seventh with a jump of 5.29m, while in the triple jump, both Alyssa Hoogs (6th, 10.8m) and Cora Rose (8th, 10.47m) finished in the Top-8, placing to add to Rochester's tally.
 
Rose also scored a Top-8 finish in the shot put, with a personal-best throw of 10.82m for 8th place. Deziree Garrick fell right behind her with a 10.75m throw, good for 9th.
 
And wrapping things up in the weight throw, Vanessa Wish earned a 7th-place finish with a throw of 13.49m, a personal best for the senior.
 
Rochester next heads to Brockport, NY for the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10:00 a.m.
