BROCKPORT, NY –
Susan Bansbach and
Kate Isaac turned in a pair of first-place finishes at the University of Rochester women's track & field tallied 73 team points to earn a fourth-place finish at the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational on Saturday at Brockport's Special Events Recreation Center.
In total, the Yellowjackets scored nine Top-5 finishes, led by Bansbach and Isaac's first-place runs. Bansbach and Isaac got their day started in the 60-meter dash, each tallying regional scores with third and fourth-place finishes.
Bansbach ran an 8.03, while Isaac came in right behind her at 8.08. Then Isaac scored a win in the 400 meters, with another regional-qualifying time of 58.80, improving on her personal-best time in both the 'Jackets' Top-15 times and the NCAA qualifying times, running the 16th-fastest time in NCAA Division III.
Then in the 800 meters, Bansbach scored her first-place finish, running a 2:20.22, while
Megan Bell scored a third-place finish with a time of 2:21.06, with both times being regional qualifiers and ranking in the Top-50 times in NCAA DIII (35th, 49th).
Joining Bell in the top 10,
Carissa Minarovich and
Sab Lin earned sixth and eighth-place finishes to qualify for the Liberty League Championships with their times of 2:26.24 and 2:27.51, respectively.
In the 4x400, Rochester's relay team of
Rita Sciortino,
Maya Hatch, Minarovich and
Kendra Watson clocked in at 4:30.07, good for a third-place finish out of the fourth lane.
Kat Benninger added to UR's Top-3 tally in the mile, with her time of 5:28.31, good for third, while
Sennett Turner and
Ellie Ponko joined the junior in the Top 10, running a 5:30.20 (6th) and 5:33.97 (9th), respectively.
Over in the jumping events,
Alyssa Hoogs and
Ashleigh Barrett both turned in Top-10 jumps in the long jump, before scoring Top-5 finishes in the triple jump.
Barrett finished 4th in the triple jump at 10.88m, while Hoogs a tick behind in fifth at 10.84m. While in the long jump, Hoogs finished just shy of Barrett at 5.34m (8th), with Barrett coming in at 5.19m in 9th.
Gillian Reeder wrapped up the Yellowjackets day just outside the Top 5 in the weight throw, coming in sixth with a 14.47m throw.
SUNY Brockport took home the women's team title with 147 points, with Toronto and SUNY Geneseo rounding out the Top 3 ahead of the 'Jackets.
Next up for Rochester is a split-squad weekend, with the Yellowjackets competing at both the RIT Friday Night Invite in Henrietta, NY and the Fasttrack National Invite in Staten Island, NY on Friday, Feb. 10 beginning at 1 p.m.
