New York, NY – The University of Rochester women's track & field 4x400 meter relay team of
Kate Isaac,
Megan Bell,
Kristin Hardy and
Susan Bansbach broke the program record by more than a second on the first day of the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Armory.
UR's 4x400 relay ran a 3:48.15 time, breaking the previous record of 3:49.43 set back in 2020. The relay time also currently ranks in the Top 10 in NCAA Division III this year and ranks just outside the top 10 in NCAA Division III history.
Elsewhere on the opening day of competition,
Ashley Heffernan set a new personal best in the pentathlon, with a third-place score of 3,177 points. Heffernan placed second across three events, the 60-meter hurdles (9.13), long jump (5.24m) and 800 meters (2:27.56), setting new personal bests in both the long jump and 800 meters en route to a Top-30 score in NCAA Division III this season.
In the 5,000 meters,
Sennett Turner also set a personal best, running a 17:52.40 time, good for a fifth-place finish.
Over in the field events,
Madeline O'Connell tied for fifth in the pole vault, with a vault of 3.56m, while
Ashleigh Barrett and
Alyssa Hoogs paced the 'Jackets in the long jump, coming in 14th (5.19m) and 16th (5.13m).
Following the opening day's action, Rochester sits tied for second with a team score of 23 points, tied with Misericordia and six points shy of first-place Ithaca.
The 'Jackets will wrap up the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, March 4 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
