‘Jackets Dazzle With 11 Top-50 Times at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – University of Rochester women's track and field wrapped up the SUNY Brockport Outdoor Multi & Invitational with a slew of top performances, placing 11 times on the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Qualifying List, hitting 13 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field (AARTFC) qualifying marks, breaking two facility record and recording more than 13 new, personal bests on Saturday at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.
 
The 'Jackets' star-studded day was led by a pair of sprinters, as Susan Bansbach and Kristin Hardy combined to place five Top-50 times on the NCAA DIII outdoor qualifying list.
 
Bansbach paced the Yellowjackets in the 400 meters, running a facility-record 55.41 time, good for the third-fastest in DIII. Bansbach was closely followed by Madeline O'Connell, who finished second with a time of 56.29, the fifth-fastest time in DIII, and Hardy, who finished third with a new, personal best 57.25, the 13th-fastest 400m-time in Div. III.
 
Kate Isaac joined all three UR sprinters in the Top 5, placing fifth with a new pr of 57.92s, the 32nd-fastest time in DIII, while all four Yellowjacket sprinters hit the AARTFC qualifying mark.
 
Bansbach and Hardy kept things rolling later on in the day in the 200m, placing first and second, respectively, with times of 24.90 and 25.17s. Both times hit the AARTFC mark and were new personal bests as well with Bansbach's time currently ranking 18th in DIII, and Hardy's coming in at 39th.
 
Bansbach, along with Ashley Heffernan, Isaac and O'Connell also added another Top-50 time in the 4x100m relay, leading the way with a first-place time of 47.55, a new facility record, an AARTFC qualifier and the 11th-fastest time in NCAA DIII.
 
UR's "B" relay team of Jael Ernest Fleurant, Hardy, Maya Hatch and Tina Kyriacou, also placed third in the event with a time of 50.71s.
 
In the 400m hurdles, Megan Bell scorers a Top-50 time, running a 1:04.61 AARTFC-qualifying time, good for second and the 26th-best time in Div. III. Bell also led the 'Jackets in the 100m, finishing third with a new pr of 12.82s, while Annabelle Shanks (6th, 13.06) and Kyriacou (7th, 13.08) rounded out the top seven.
 
Elsewhere in the track events, Alicia Lawson and Morgan Bremer finished 1st and 2nd in the 10,000m with times of 40:32.37 and 40:41.46, a new personal best for Bremer, while Rachel Dennis (10th, 41:28.14) and Alyssa Horng (9th, 41:28.14) added two more Top-10 finishes for the Yellowjackets.
 
In the 3000m steeplechase, San Lin paced the Yellowjackets with a third-place finish, clocking in at 12:14.15, with Alicia Beam close behind in fourth place at 12:55.67 and Sabrina Terando in fifth, coming in at 13:00.18.
 
Lin and Carissa Minarovich also added Top-10 finishes in the 800m, with Minarovich's 2:26.44 leading the Yellowjackets in sixth place and Lin finishing 10th at 2:29.18. While in the 100m hurdles, Zoe Noble finished 10th (18.38) and Abigail Seamans (19.28) 11th, both with new personal best times.
 
In the field events, both Alyssa Hoogs and Cora Rose scored marks good for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying list, as did Heffernan and Iva Savic in the heptathlon.
 
Heffernan won the heptathlon with a 4,334 point score, an AARTFC mark and the ninth-best mark in DIII, while Savic came in third with 3,320 points, a new personal best and the 43rd-best time in DIII.
 
Rose led the 'Jackets in three out of the fourth throwing events, finishing second in the shot put with a 12.33m throw, fifth in the discus with a 36.20m throw, and ninth in the javelin with a 26.42m throw, a new pr. Rose's shot put was good enough to hit the AARTFC qualifying mark, while the sophomore's discus throw ranks 42nd in DIII.
 
Gillian Reeder led UR in the other throwing event, the hammer, finishing fourth with a regional-qualifying mark of 44.37m. Livia Ilasz and Vanessa Wish joined Reeder in the Top 10, finishing seventh (42.15m) and eighth (41.74m), respectively.
 
Hoogs scored an AARTFC mark in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a jump of 11.17m, adding a fifth-place finish in the high jump, coming in at 5.25m.
 
Ashleigh Barrett joined Hoogs in the top 10 of the triple jump in ninth at 10.70m, while Trinity Johnson scored 10th place in the high jump at 1.52m.
 
Rochester next competes at home inside Fauver Stadium for the UR Alumni Invitational on Saturday, April 22 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
