Racing on its home course, the University of Rochester women's rowing team got its first full team action of the season in, competing at the 2024 Head of the Genesee Regatta on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets had six boats racing over four events, with Rochester's first varsity eight boat ending third among eight schools in the premiere event of the day. That group posted a time of 19:55.91, ending behind Liberty League rivals RIT and William Smith in the race.

UR's second varsity eight boat placed second in its event, which ended up being a head-to-head with RIT. The 2V finished in 21:17.05.

Three Rochester 4+ entries all placing in the top-8 in that event which featured 15 total teams. UR's top finishing team was fourth in 21:20.97 and consisted of
Madeleine LaChance,
Aviva Bock,
Ava Prevey-Sullivan and
Anushka Aritharan, with
Avery Alperin serving as coxswain.

The second V4 entry was sixth in 21:50.55, while the third V4 boat finished right behind in 22:02.70.

Rochester's final competition came in the open double, with that boat finishing in seventh. The team of Aritharan and LaChance crossed the finish line with a time of 22:54.84.

UR's next rowing action of the season takes place next weekend at the world-renowned Head of the Charles on October 20.
