Varsity Four Posts Solid Result at Head of the Charles Regatta

BOSTON – Competing in one of the most prestigious regattas in the world, the University of Rochester women's rowing team held their own in both the collegiate eights and the collegiate fours events at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday afternoon.
 
Overall, the UR varsity eight entry finished in 28th of 34 teams in that event, posting a time of 18:49.177 over the course. The boat was made up of coxswain Mykaila Meunier, Jinx Allison, Sophie Swartz, Sophie Weissman, Emme Sipera, Julia Tricomi, Meg Hanson, Lillian Zullow and Kennedy Leininger.
 
In the race, the Yellowjackets defeated other varsity eight boats from Catholic University, the University of Florida and Liberty League foe St. Lawrence, among other teams 2V boats.
 
UR's varsity four boat featuring Avery Alperin at coxswain, Aviva Bock, Ava Prevey-Sullivan, Anushka Aritharan and Madeleine LaChance had a tremendous result, finishing 13th among 39 entries in the event. The Yellowjackets finished with a time of 20:13.943, missing a top-10 result by just 14 seconds.
 
In the race, Rochester's boat beat several top Division III teams varsity four entries, including Bates, Williams, Trinity and Wesleyan, with all of those teams regularly ranking inside the top-10 in the country.
 
UR's next racing action comes next Saturday at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, NY.
