University of Rochester men's swimming and diving first-year
Connor Kann was a quadruple-winner, as the 'Jackets defeated the Nazareth University Golden Flyers, 158-62, in a dual-meet inside the Speegle-Wilbraham Center for their fourth-straight win of the year.
Kann picked up wins in both relays: the 400 medley and 200 freestyle, and added two more individually in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard butterfly. Kann, along with
Brian Wong,
Demo Hong and
Michael Scholz, kicked off the dual meet with a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, clocking in at 3:34.95, while UR's 'B' team of
Jeremy Mah,
Max Gjevre,
Chad Buccella and
Johnathan Wu came in second with a time of 3:49.42.
Kann scored his next win in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:01.08, with a pair of 'Jackets behind him in Buccella (2nd, 1:02.74) and Gjevre (3rd, 1:02.94), and took first later in the 100 butterfly (1st, 54.79), with Buccella again right behind him in second with a time of 55.59.
Kann, along with
Jack Zapp,
Ben Friedberg and Scholz, wrapped up the dual with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, leading a trio of UR relay squads to podium finishes. The 'Jackets' 'A' clocked in at 1:28.08 in first, with
Noah Falkenhagen,
Ian Curd,
Tosan Obatoyinbo and
Bryce Berkhof notching second with a time of 1:32.17, while
Luke Marino,
David Kilway,
John Anastasi and Wong combined to finish third with a time of 1:33.97.
Zapp was also a double-winner for Rochester, finishing atop the podium in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.89), with Wong (2nd, 2:14.00) and
Phillip Brooke (3rd, 2:24.63) rounding out the top-three finishers.
In the 200-yard freestyle,
Max McClung notched the Yellowjackets' second win of the day, pacing two 'Jackets finishers in the top two alongside Berkhof with a time of 1:46.61, while Berkhof finished in 1:48.23.
Falkenhagen took home first place in the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 2:04.50, while
Brendan Habert and
Nate Attwell added the final two individual first-place results of the day for the UR men in the three-meter dive and 200 IM.
Habert won the three-meter competition with a 271.50 score, while Attwell led a trio of Yellowjackets in the 200 IM, finishing first with a time of 2:04.43, while Gjevre clocked in at 2:05.00 (2nd) and Brooke scored third with a time of 2:15.63.
Attwell added another top-three finish in the 100-yard freestyle, placing second with a time of 49.18, with Mah joining him on the podium in third with a time of 49.89.
Elsewhere on the afternoon, Scholz (2nd, 21.94) and Mah (3rd, 22.62) led UR in the 50-yard freestyle, while both Habert and
Max Wozinski placed in the one-meter dive, with Habert taking second (261.50) and Wozinski (246.25) finishing third.
The Yellowjackets next hit the road for their final dual-meet of the calendar year, visiting Grove City, PA for a matchup against Grove City College on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1:00 p.m.
