PITTSFORD, NY – In just its first meet of the 2024-25 season, the University of Rochester men's track and field team is already setting new records, with two school records falling during action at the Nazareth University Alumni Opener on Friday evening.

Seniors Jordan Johnson and Cole Goodman were the record breakers, with Johnson setting the mark in the weight throw, while Goodman established a new Rochester all-time best in the triple jump.

Goodman's leap in the triple jump was 15.57 meters, establishing the #1 mark in Division III in the early part of the season and the #6 all-time mark in Division III history. The senior, who is the reigning outdoor Division III national champion, broke his own indoor record of 15.39 meters, set back at the NCAA Championships in 2023.

For Johnson, his final season with the Yellowjackets saw him post a 18.65 meter mark in the weight throw, eclipsing the previous UR record of 18.53 meters set by Mike Burgstrom back in 2008. Johnson's result has him atop the Division III rankings so far this season.

Overall on the day, Rochester's men finished first in five events, had six All-Atlantic Regional Championship qualifiers and currently sit inside the top-10 on the Division III performance list 15 times.

Most of the success came in the field events, with Johnson and Goodman leading the way. Besides his triple jump win, Goodman came in first in the long jump with an All-Atlantic Regional performance of 7.25 meters, also the number one mark in Division III.
