WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The University of Rochester women's track & field team got its weekend started on Friday at the Williams College Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza at the Weston Athletic Complex, competing in the 4x400-meter relay, javelin throw and pole vault.
Aimee Oszer got Rochester's afternoon started with the javelin toss, finishing fourth with a throw of 33.79m. Oszer hit her top mark on her third attempt, hitting 31.21m on her first attempt of the day.
In the pole vault,
Madeline O'Connell picked up the Yellowjackets' first event win of the extravaganza, winning the competition with a 4.02m vault. O'Connell beat out a field of 10 competitors and was the only one to make it over both the 3.92m and 4.02m bars, once again notching an All-Atlantic Region (AARTFC) qualifying mark.
On the track, UR's 4x400-meter relay team of
Nora Chen,
Kate Isaac,
Megan Bell and
Raquella Casserino earned a fourth-place finish, clocking in at 3:47.87, a top-10 mark in NCAA Division III, as well as a regional qualifier. Both Bell and Chen ran sub-56.0 splits, as the Yellowjackets narrowly missed topping their season-best time of 3:47.30.
Rochester will return to the Weston Athletic Complex for day two of the Williams College Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza on Saturday, May 11 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
