Box Score GENEVA, NY – For the third-straight year, University of Rochester women's tennis senior
Josephine Libby won the William Smith Mary Hosking Invitational's Singles A bracket, picking up a pair of victories in the semifinals and bracket final on Sunday at the Hobart and William Smith Tennis Center.
Libby, matched up with top-seeded Kira Kronenberg of RIT in the semifinals, battled back from being down 4-1 against Kronenberg to take the semifinal match, 8-6. The senior then defeated St. Lawrence's Molly Jespersen in the Flight A Singles Final to take home the title for the third-consecutive year.
Elsewhere on the day, first-year
Dalia Emad picked up two wins in the Flight D Singles bracket, topping William Smith's Bethany Walker in her first match, 6-3, and St. Lawrence's Kate Butler, 6-0, in her second before dropping a 6-3 semifinal match to top-seeded Taylor Chandler of RPI.
In consolation play,
Neha Dania earned a win over Geneseo's Rachel Molly, 6-3, while
Lilly Caldwell,
Sahithi Mathukumilli and
Jasmin Toor all dropped their consolation matches on Sunday.
Caldwell fell to Union's Chara Meidani, 6-1, while Mathukumilli and Toor both lost 7-5, Mathukumilli to Geneseo's Talia Wutz and Toor to Union's Luisa Arizpe Sierra.
In doubles action, Dania and Mathukumilli swept their consolation match against St. Lawrence's Butler and Mia McNamara, 6-0, while Caldwell and Emad fell to Union's Claire Langille and Skylar Semon, 6-0.
The Yellowjackets continue their fall slate on Saturday, Sept. 21 when they head to Saratoga Springs, NY for the three-day ITA Regional Championships beginning at 8:30 a.m.
