UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Competing in a field of 55 runners, nearly all of whom were Division I participants, senior
Megan Bell more than held her own in the 800 meters at the Penn State University National Open on Friday evening.
Bell finished in a terrific tenth place in the Division I field, clocking in the 2:09.50, establishing the second-best time on the NCAA Division III performance list this season after a conversion to flat track time.
The UR senior earned a win in her heat, besting runners from Princeton, Villanova, Toledo and Norfolk State.
Bell's time also broke her own school record of 2:10.17 that was set in the preliminary heats of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships last year.
Her top time in 2025 sees Bell ascend up the NCAA Division III all-time list to 16th.
Joining Bell at the Penn State National Open will be fellow senior Cole Goodman who is competing in the men's triple jump competition on Saturday afternoon.
