OBERLIN, OH – Led by
Riley Joseph's top-20 finish, the University of Rochester women's cross country program placed seventh out of 25 competing teams at Oberlin College's Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday at the Oberlin College North Fields Cross Country Course.
Joseph was URochester's top finisher in the varsity race, crossing the finish line in 23:07.50, good for 20th in the 213-runner field.
Sam Mermelstein was Rochester's next-highest finisher in 39th place with a 23:45.70 time, while
Ariane Yedidia came in 42nd, clocking in at 23:51.70.
Alyssa Horng then placed 48th overall with a time of 24:02.60, while
Adriana Ochoa rounded out the 'Jackets' top-five runners with a time of 24:24.10 and a 63rd-place finish.
URochester's two displacers were
Peyton Classer, who came in 66th with a time of 24:25.60, and
Emily Dill, who finished 77th with a time of 24:40.50.
Maria Khalifeh added another top-100 result for the Yellowjackets, crossing the finish line in 25:01.70, good for 98th overall.
In the open race,
Kara Goldstein came in 18th for Rochester, clocking in at 26:13.90, while
Isabella Doty (29th, 27:03.30) and
Rita Sciortino (30th, 27:06.30) joined the sophomore in the top-30 in the 106-runner open-race field.
As a team, Rochester tallied 193 points to place seventh, with Case Western Reserve taking the top spot at the inter-regional rumble with 76 points, while John Carroll with 90 points and Centre with 129 rounded out the top-three team finishers.
The Yellowjackets next head to Edwardsville, IL, to compete at the 2025 University Athletic Association Cross Country Championships, hosted by WashU on Saturday, Nov. 1, beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT.
