Three Triple-Winners Highlight ‘Jackets Dual-Win over Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – University of Rochester men's swimming and diving won 12-of-13 events en route to a 160-68 win over the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles on Friday evening inside Brockport's James B. Fulton Natatorium.
 
The Yellowjackets had three triple-winners: Max Gjevre, Connor Kann and Max McClung, and four double-winners on the day, Nate Attwell, Ben Friedberg, Sebastian Gans and Tyler Yeung, led by McClung, who won three events and broke a Golden Eagles' pool record in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
McClung won the 100 butterfly with a pool-record time of 50.91 seconds, leading a trio of 'Jackets in the top three with Patrick Li (2nd, 56.31) and Matthew Spence (3rd, 57.78) finishing close behind him.
 
The senior opened the meet with his first win of the day in the 200-yard medley relay, combining with Gans, Gjevre and Friedberg for a first-place time of 1:37.83. While McClung, Gans, Friedberg and Connor Kann wrapped up the meet with another relay win, clocking in at 1:26.17 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
Gjevre added individual wins in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke, while Kann topped the podium in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
 
In the 200 IM, Gjevre took first with a time of 2:05.27, while Brandon Weaver placed third, touching the wall in 2:08.09. While in the 100 backstroke, Gjevre finished with a time of 1:00.65, while Jayden Proctor placed third with a time of 1:04.53.
 
Kann touched the wall in 22.07 seconds in the 50 freestyle to net his first individual win of the day, beating Gans, who took second with a time of 22.23. While in the 100 backstroke, Kann clocked in at 55.90, with Ryan Bowering finishing in second place with a time of 57.48.
 
Nate Attwell scored event wins in both the 100-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle, notching the Yellowjackets' first individual win of the meet with a first-place finish and 10:14.57 time in the 1,000 freestyle. Then in the 100 freestyle, Attwell clocked in at 49.21, good for another first-place finish.
 
Bowering joined Attwell on the podium in the 1,000 freestyle, notching another top-three result with a second-place finish and time of 10:35.52.
 
URochester's last double-winner of the day was Tyler Yeung, who took home the top spot in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events. Yeung and Spence both finished on the podium in the 200 freestyle, with Yeung taking first with a time of 1:48.26, while Spence's 1:50.75 time was good for second.
 
And in the 500 freestyle, Yeung led a trio of Yellowjacket finishers in the top three, placing first (4:54.01), while Venden Berge took second (5:06.24), and Leo Neirynck finished third (5:14.25).
 
In the diving events, Max Wozinski took second in the one-meter dive, scoring 221.35, as well as the three-meter dive with a 228.45 score.
 
Overall, Rochester tallied 33 top-three results, and notched their third victory over their past three meets.
 
URochester returns home for its next meet, hosting Grove City College on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1:00 p.m.  inside the Speegle-Wilbraham Center.
