University of Rochester women's soccer junior defender
Eileen Harvey was named a United Soccer Coaches Fourth-Team All-American, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday.
Â
The 37th All-American in women's soccer program history, Harvey becomes the third All-American in as many years for the Yellowjackets under Head Coach
Ashley Van Vechten, after
Claire Grover and
Natalie Kocsis earned first and fourth-team honors, respectively, in 2023 and 2024.
Â
"Our program, team, and staff are overjoyed at Eileen's much-deserved All-America recognition," Van Vechten said. "From the moment Eileen stepped onto our campus, she's helped shape our team for the better with her passion for the game and authentic energy. Eileen is a relentless competitor regardless of the scale of the contest, and her drive to succeed inspires all who are privileged to play alongside her."
Â
A First-Team All-Region III selection and a First-Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, Harvey anchored Rochester's defense at the center back position, helping the Yellowjackets post 10 shutouts and hold its opponents to one goal or less in 15-of-19 contests.
Â
"Eileen's exceptional performances throughout her career are a testament to the incredible skills she's developed and the joy with which she applies them to the sport we love, every single day," Van Vechten continued, "Our program is undoubtedly better with student-athletes like Eileen at the heart of it, and I can't wait to see where she'll lead us next. Congratulations, Eileen!"
Â
The junior appeared in and started 17 games, playing 1,435 minutes, and tallied one goal on three shots, one of which was on goal. Averaging nearly 85 minutes per contest, Harvey left the field just twice during the regular season, playing all 90 minutes in 15-of-17 games, including conference wins against No. 3 Chicago and No. 13 Brandeis, as well as Rochester's non-conference win at No. 7 Misericordia.
Â
Harvey's lone goal came in the Yellowjackets' 3-2 win over eventual Empire 8 Champion, St. John Fisher. The junior helped give Rochester a 2-0 lead, scoring off a corner kick in the 40th minute to double the 'Jackets lead just before the halftime break.
