Jain, Lansey Earn Wins on Day Two at Nazareth D3 Elite Meet

PITTSFORD, NY – Junior Aadit Jain and first-year Austin Lansey earned event wins, highlighting the University of Rochester men's track and field team performance at the Nazareth University D3 Elite Meet on Saturday afternoon at the Golisano Training Center.
 
Jain hit a season-best 1.92 meters in the high jump, earning the event win against 22 other jumpers. His mark earned him a qualifying spot at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships later this season.
 
Lansey continued his solid season in the triple jump, earning a victory with a 13.90 meter leap, also a regional qualifier.
 
Lansey and Jain's finishes were two of seven top-10 results for the Yellowjackets on day two of the competition at Nazareth.
 
During the shot put, sophomore Ethan Beer finished fourth in the competition with a toss of 14.56 meters, an AARTFC qualifier. Teammate Jordan Johnson was sixth, setting a new personal-best mark at 14.15 meters.
 
Joining Lansey in the triple jump top-8 was Sam Lorenzetti who finished seventh after hitting a jump of 13.37 meters.
 
In the mile, first-year Liam Sakakeeny ran a season-best time of 4:21.07, hitting the AARTFC standard in the process. Ronan Marston's eighth place result in the 60 meters was UR's other top-10 result on Saturday. The first-year sprinter finished in 7.19 seconds.
 
During the 3000 meters, Jonathan Sullo hit a new personal-best time of 8:58.83, ranking 11th. Teammate Sam Cohen was 14th (9:07.40) and Nolan Goldthwaite was 15th in 9:10.10. Richard Santarosa's time of 9:22.84 was a new personal-best in the same event, ending 20th.
 
Other top finishers in the shot put for Rochester were Dylan Rykert in 11th place (13.07m) and Kevin Fobare in 15th (12.94m).
 
UR's other runners to finish in the top-20 in their respective events were Andy Freeman in the mile and Zach Terrano in the 800 meters. Freeman finished 16th in 4:28.37, while Terrano crossed in 19th place, posting a time of 2:01.84.
 
Rochester's next meet will also be at Nazareth University, with UR taking part in the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up next Friday evening, starting at 4 pm.
