‘Jackets Place Two in the Pentathlon Top 10 at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – The University of Rochester women's track and field team saw two Yellowjackets finish in the top 10 and three in the top 11 of the pentathlon on the opening night of the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational at Brockport's Special Events and Recreation Center.
 
Julia Largett was UR's top finisher in the pentathlon, placing seventh with 2,572 points, while Julie Durham finished less than 100 points behind the junior in eighth with 2,489 points and Grace McInerney took home 11th with 1,989 points.
 
McInerney turned in the Yellowjackets' top individual finish across the five events in the long jump, placing third with a 5.13m leap, while Largett took eight, jumping 4.68m, and Durham finished 10th (4.48m).
 
Largett's best finish came in the 800 meters, where the junior wrapped up the pentathlon with a sixth-place result and time of 2:35.56. Largett kicked off the pentathlon with an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (10.39), tied for 10th with Durham in the high jump, surpassing the 1.32m bar, and scored eighth in the shot put with an 8.06m toss.
 
Durham tallied two seventh-place finishes across the five events, placing seventh in both the 60-meter hurdles (10.30) and the 800 meters (2:38.15), while earning a 12th-place result in the shot put with a 7.80m toss.
 
McInerney finished eighth in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 2:40.95, tied for ninth in the shot put (7.90m) and clocked in at 11.62 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, good for 12th, but did not record a height in the high jump.
 
The rest of the Yellowjackets squad will get going on day two of the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 10:00 a.m. in Brockport, NY.
