UR Multis Wrap Up Spring Twilight

PRINCE ATHLETIC COMPLEX – The University of Rochester men's and women's track & field programs finished off their first home meet of the year, the UR Spring Twilight, with the final few events of the decathlon and heptathlon on Tuesday afternoon inside Edwin Fauver Stadium.
 
The women wrapped up the heptathlon with the long jump, javelin toss and 800 meters, while the men's decathletes competed in the final five events of the competition: the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 meters.
 
Emmett Hansen was UR's top finisher in the decathlon, placing second with a 5,889-point score, while Ashton Tokarski finished fourth with 5,302 points and Jack Manness came in sixth with 5,024 points. Gabe Thyne also competed for Rochester but didn't finish the competition.
 
In the heptathlon, Grace McInerney finished fourth with 3,494 points, with Julia Largett (3,355 pts) and Julie Durham (3,007 pts) rounding out the six competitors who finished the heptathlon.
 
Four of the Yellowjackets' scores, Hansen and Tokarski in the decathlon and McInerney and Largett in the heptathlon, hit the All-Atlantic Region qualifying mark, while Hansen and McInerney's both currently rank on the NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying List. Hansen's 5,889-point decathlon score ranks 30th, while McInerney's is 48th in DIII in the heptathlon.
 
Hansen set new season-best marks in six different events, recording his best finish in the javelin, where he took home first in the field of six competitors. Hansen's 41.70m toss earned the first-year the top spot in the javelin, and the first-year also added top-three finishes in the long jump (2nd, 6.23m), high jump (2nd, 1.78m), 400 meters (2nd, 52.01), discus (2nd, 27.49m) and 1,500 meters (2nd, 4:40.05).
 
Tokarski set new personal-best marks in the 100 meters (3rd, 11.33), 400 meters (3rd, 52.92) and javelin toss (4th, 37.48m), and added another top-three result in the 1,500 meters (3rd, 5:10.71). While Maness notched PRs in the first six events of the decathlon, as well as a new personal-best tally with his overall score.
 
Maness hit PRs in the 100 meters (4th, 11.40), long jump (3rd, 6.22m), shot put (3rd, 9.96m), high jump (5th, 1.69m), 400 meters (4th, 53.70) and 110-meter hurdles (5th, 18.17), before winning the pole vault on the second day of competition with a 4.05m height.
 
In the heptathlon, McInerney notched three top-three results, with her best finish coming in the 200 meters (2nd, 27.08). The first-year added two third-place results in the long jump (5.23m) and javelin (21.60m) while notching season-best tallies in the final four events of the competition, finishing up day two with a season-best time in the 800 meters (2:38.21) and a fourth-place finish.
 
Largett notched her highest finish in the 800 meters, coming in third with a time of 2:36.99 to place fifth overall, and added a new PR in the javelin (4th, 21.18m) on the second day of the heptathlon. On day one, the junior tied for fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.31m, and also added another top-five result in the 200 meters, placing fifth (28.33).
 
Durham rounded out UR's three competitors in the heptathlon field, notching four season-best marks in the 100-meter hurdles (5th, 17.60), 200 meters (6th, 28.73), long jump (6th, 4.71m) and javelin (6th, 16.02m). In addition to her fifth-place result in the 100-meter hurdles, Durham added another top-five result in the 800 meters, finishing fifth and crossing the finish line in 2:52.06.
 
The Yellowjackets will remain home for their next meet, hosting the UR Alumni Invitational on Saturday, April 19, beginning at 10:00 a.m. inside Fauver Stadium.
