V8 Boat Ends Fourth at Liberty League Championship

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The University of Rochester women's rowing team continued their spring season on Friday morning, competing at the Liberty League Championships along Fish Creek.
 
Rochester's varsity eight boat placed fourth, the novice four entry ended in third place and the second varsity eight finished in seventh for the Yellowjackets, competing in three of the four women's events contested on the day.
 
To open the action, UR's varsity eight ranked fourth of seven in the racing of the top boats of the Liberty League, finishing with a time of 8:02.351, narrowly edging out RIT by two-tenths of a second at the finish line. Nationally-ranked teams Ithaca (#6), William Smith (#7) and Skidmore (#13), were the lone teams to finish ahead of the Yellowjackets. St. Lawrence and Union rounded out the field in the V8 race.
 
Up next, the Yellowjackets second varsity eight boat rowed to a time of 9:23.717, ranking seventh in that event.
 
Later in the morning, UR ended its day with a finish of 9:43.934 in the novice four race, ending third among the five boats entered. UR finished closely behind Ithaca for second, trailing the Bombers by just five seconds.
 
Rochester wraps up its spring rowing season next weekend, competing at the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 11.
