Four Named to All-Liberty League Lacrosse Squad

Four Yellowjackets from the University of Rochester women's lacrosse team were recognized by the Liberty League with All-Liberty League honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
 
Junior attacker Alyssa Gorny was named a Second-Team All-Liberty League selection, while senior defender Campbell Sy, first-year goalie Isla Ablin and first-year midfielder Sara Mendelson received Third-Team honors.
 
Rochester wrapped up the 2025 campaign with a 5-12 (2-8 LL) record, earning conference wins at home vs. Clarkson and Bard. The 'Jackets played in several close games, with seven of their 17 games decided by three goals or less, and saw several tremendous individual performances, setting or tying numerous career, single-season and single-game records.
 
Second Team:
Alyssa GornyAlyssa Gorny (JR, A, Ellicott City, MD/Howard) – 3rd All-LL honor (2023 HM, 2024 2nd TM); Gorny led the 'Jackets across nearly every major statistical category this season, tallying a team-high 58 goals, 72 points, 129 shots, and 82 draw controls, in addition to ranking second on the team in assists (14) and caused turnovers (14) and sixth in ground balls (20) in 17 games played and started. Statistically, Gorny ranks second in the Liberty League in goals, points and shots, as well as top-75 in NCAA Division III in goals, goals per game, shots per game and shots on goal per game. The junior also became just the fourth Yellowjacket in program history to reach the 200 career point mark, while setting the UR single-season records for goals, shots, shots on goal and draw controls. Gorny scored multiple goals in all but one contest, including notching a career-high nine goals and 10 total points, one shy of the program record, in Rochester's 22-7 win over Bard on April 25, 2025.
 
Third Team:
Isla AblinIsla Ablin (FY, G, Philadelphia, PA/Germantown Friends) – 1st All-LL honor; As a first-year, Ablin started in goal for the Yellowjackets this year. In 985:20 minutes between the pipes, Ablin notched 192 saves, the second-most in a single season in program history, and 24 groundballs while facing 543 shots and allowing 203 goals for a 12.36 goals against average and a .486 save percentage. Ablin led the Liberty League and ranked seventh in NCAA Division III in saves, averaging 11.29 saves per contest, a top-15 mark in DIII. Ablin's .486 save percentage also ranked in the top 50 in DIII, as the first-year notched double-digit saves 12 times, including a season-high 22 at Skidmore on March 22.
 
Sara MendelsonSara Mendelson (FY, M, Reisterstown, MD/Jemicy School) – 1st All-LL honor; Mendelson quickly became a key contributor in Rochester's midfield, appearing in all 17 games and making 14 starts. The first year started UR's final 14 contests, tallying 10 goals and five assists on 24 shots for a total of 15 points, 62 draw controls, nine groundballs and six caused turnovers. Mendelson ranked second on the team in draw controls, with her 62 draw controls ranking as the third-most in a single season in program history. The Reisterstown, MD native notched a draw control in every contest, tallying a season-high nine in a win over SUNY Oneonta on March 18, in addition to a goal and an assist, one of five games the first-year had with six or more draw controls.
 
Campbell SyCampbell Sy (SR, D, Keene, NH/Northfield Mount Hermon (MA)) – 1st All-LL honor; A mainstay on UR's defense since her first year, Sy started all 17 games for the Yellowjackets this season, leading UR with 34 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers. Sy ranked eighth in the Liberty League in both marks, averaging 2.00 groundballs per game and 1.35 caused turnovers per game, also top-10 marks in the conference. Sy turned in a season-high five groundballs and three caused turnovers at RPI on March 21, and had a groundball or caused turnover in all but two contests. For her career, Sy ranks seventh in program history with 60 caused turnovers, and graduated tied atop the UR leaderboard in career games played with 66.
