Backed by 12 wins in 16 events contested, the University of Rochester women's swimming and diving team defeated Ithaca College 165-135 on Saturday at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center, completing a perfect 9-0 dual meet season in 2025-26.
URochester finishes the season unbeaten for the first time since the Yellowjacket women's team was 10-0 back in 1975-76, a span of 50 seasons. The nine wins in the dual match season are the most by Rochester since the 2016-17 campaign, with the Yellowjackets going 10-2 that year.
On Saturday, seven swimmers were at least double-winners, with
Ariana Pasquella and
Amelia Hardiman both earning three wins on the day.
Pasquella won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events in addition to swimming on the 200 medley relay squad that finished first. Hardiman earned her wins in the 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 400 IM.
The other double-winners were
Sophia Dmytruk,
Addison Powers,
Morgan Edstrom,
Kaela Springer and
Julianne Weaver.
The meet started out with a UR win in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Dmytruk, Pasquella, Powers and Edstrom getting to the wall in 1:49.40.
Up next was the 1000 freestyle, with
Katelyn Packer and
Rachel Ruminer earning second and third place respectively. Packer touched in 11:13.13, while Ruminer earned a time of 11:15.00.
Hardiman's first of three wins came next in the 200 free, with the sophomore swimming a time of 1:59.26. That kickstarted a stretch of four straight events with a victory for URochester.
Dmytruk followed by winning the 100 backstroke in 59.85 seconds before Pasquella's 100 breaststroke win in 1:05.23.
Ally Mackey made it four straight with a 2:09.80 swim in the 200 butterfly, finishing ahead of second place Powers (2:13.32).
Edstrom ended as runner-up in the 50 freestyle while Springer earned her first of two wins in the diving events, scoring 256.05 points on the 1-meter board.
Julia Sides ended third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 234.95 points.
Up next, Weaver earned a victory in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 53.92 seconds.
Hardiman and
Phoebe Hamblett were first and third in the 200 backstroke, with Hardiman posting a time of 2:08.61, ahead of Hamblett's swim of 2:10.50.
Pasquella followed with her third win of the day in the 200 breaststroke, scoring the victory in 2:23.18.
Packer was Rochester's top finisher in the 500 freestyle, placing fourth (5:36.83), and Powers earned a third place finish in the 100 butterfly (59.26 seconds) ahead of the Yellowjackets claiming wins in the final three events in the pool.
Springer again won, scoring 285.60 points on the 3-meter board, with Sides earning another third place result, tallying a 265.80-point total.
In the 400 IM, URochester finished 1-2, with Hardiman winning in 4:41.93 and Mackey placing second with a time of 4:42.73.
To close off the victory and perfect dual meet season, the 200 freestyle relay team of
Adele Hellstrom, Powers, Edstrom and Weaver were first to the wall in 1:39.83.
Prior to the start of the meet, the Yellowjackets celebrated Senior Day, with eight seniors being honored for their efforts over the last four years with the program. The honorees were
Caelan Clayton, Edstrom,
Hannah Gentile,
Paige Lovelace, Pasquella, Talia Proweller,
Izzy Stevenson and
Marlena Vieira.
Rochester now shifts its focus to the upcoming UAA Swimming and Diving Championships to be held at the University of Chicago from February 11-14.
