LEWISBURG, PA – Four members of the University of Rochester men's track & field team competed in the distance events on Saturday at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic inside Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium as part of a split-squad weekend for the Yellowjackets.
Owen Bernstein got Rochester started with the 800 meters, coming in 78th in the field of 157 runners with a time of 1:56.33.
Austin Skeete and
Jacob Bernd both notched All-Atlantic Region (AARTFC) qualifying marks in the 1,500 meters, with Skeete leading the way in 69th place, while Bernd took 86th place in the 91-runner field. Skeete's time of 3:55.47 was good for a new personal-best performance, while Bernd crossed the finish line in 3:58.76.
Liam Sakakeeny then wrapped up the 'Jackets evening with the 5,000 meters, coming in 61st among the 104 runners with a time of 14:48.43. Sakakeeny's time bested his previous PR by more than 30 seconds and was also a regional qualifier.
The Yellowjackets will continue their split-squad weekend on Sunday, competing at the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational in Brockport, NY, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
