HENRIETTA, NY – In its final tune-up before the 2026 Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the University of Rochester men's track and field team notched five first-place finishes, 14 top-three results and 10 All-Atlantic Region (AARTFC) qualifiers at RIT's Bill Q Invitational on Friday evening at RIT's Track & Field Complex.
Rochester got the Invitational started with its first of two relay wins, topping the 4x100-meter relay, and later, the 4x400-meter relay.
Aadit Jain,
Barack Abdallah,
Evan Bryant and
William Stiska combined for an AARTFC-qualifying time of 42.12 seconds in the 4x100 relay, while in the 4x400,
Jaubert Black,
Henry Hasselbacher,
Tyler Bernstein and
Ivan Wolf-Mialky clocked in at 3:26.72.
Abdallah added another first-place finish for the Yellowjackets on the track in the 100 meters, while Jain topped the long jump in the field events. Abdallah came in first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.75 seconds, with Stiska right behind him in second place, crossing the finish line in 10.86 seconds, a new PR, with both 'Jacket sprinters besting the regional-qualifying mark.
In the long jump, Jain led four Yellowjackets in the top five, coming in first with a 6.66m leap, while
Austin Lansey took third (6.51m),
Ashton Tokarski placed fourth (6.47m) and
Oliver Annon came in fifth (6.42m).
URochester's final first-place finish came in the 400-meter hurdles, where
Elijah VanHoover was one of three 'Jackets in the top five, leading the field with an AARTFC qualifier and new personal-best time of 55.80 seconds.
Greg Palma took second with a time of 57.09 seconds, while Wolf-Mialky came in fifth at 1:04.18.
VanHoover also took second in the 110-meter hurdles with another AARTFC qualifier and PR, clocking in at 15.18 seconds, while
Evan Bryant (2nd, 49.51s) and
Owen Bernstein (8th, 51.23s) both placed in the 400 meters.
In the 800 meters,
Trevor Kuhlman was Rochester's top finisher with a time of 2:00.55, good for 11th. Black and Annon came in seventh and eighth in the 200 meters, with times of 22.66 and 22.74 seconds, respectively, while
Anthony Cardoso paced the 'Jackets in the 1,500 meters with a 15th-place result and time of 4:14.72.
Rochester earned a second-place finish in three of the four throwing events, with Yellowjacket throwers going 2-3-4 in the hammer throw. All three 'Jackets scored regional-qualifying marks in the event, with
Armaan Butler finishing second with a 51.97 toss,
Alex Hermann in third with a 50.49m throw, and
Ethan Kaufman right behind the pair in fourth with a 50.48m throw.
In the shot put,
Ethan Beer took second with a 14.55m throw, while
Sean Elliott came in sixth (13.03m). While in the discus, Hermann was Rochester's top finisher with a 45.70m toss, an AARTFC qualifier and good for second place, while Beer finished fourth (43.90m) and Elliott placed fifth (41.87m). Tokarski was Rochester's top finisher in the javelin, finishing sixth with a 34.67m throw.
Brant Nicholls hit an AARTFC qualifier in the pole vault, finishing fifth with a height of 4.45m, while
Emmett Hansen cleared 1.78m in the high jump to come in seventh.
Rochester next heads to Canton, NY, for the Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence, beginning on Friday, May 1 at 12:00 p.m.
