Men’s Track & Field Competes at Ithaca In-Between Meet

ITHACA, NY – The University of Rochester men's track and field team sent several individuals to get some late season tune-up's in on Saturday, competing at the Ithaca College In-Between Meet on Saturday.
 
This meet serves as an in-between meet between championship competitions, as last week was conference championship weekend, with the All-Atlantic Region Championships taking place next week.
 
On the afternoon, three URochester athletes hit AARTFC standards, two secured event wins and three had personal-best marks.
 
Junior Ethan Beer captured first place in the shot put with a mark of 14.63 meters, hitting the regional standard. Senior Aadit Jain was the other event winner, topping the field in the long jump with a leap of 6.76 meters. Jain also ran the 100 meters and place 13th in 11.23 seconds.
 
In the hammer throw, all three of UR's entries were top-6 finishers, led by Ethan Kaufman who was runner-up. The first-year hit a season-best throw of 51.38 meters and qualified for regionals. Teammate Armaan Butler was third (49.91 meters) and first-year Alex Hermann ended sixth (48.73 meters).
 
Junior Elijah VanHoover secured a regional qualifying time in the 110 meter hurdles event, placing third among 11 entrants with a time of 15.34 seconds during the finals. VanHoover sprinted to a 15.45 second time during the prelims, before shaving off over a tenth of a second later on.
 
Hermann ended in second place in the discus with a toss of 42.35 meters, while teammate Emmett Hansen was 13th with a 31.71 meter toss, establishing a new personal-best.
 
Ivan Wolf-Mialky set a season-best time in the 400 meter hurdles, running 58.01 seconds in a sixth place finish.
 
During the 200 meters, the 'Jackets saw their three runners place sixth, seventh and eighth overall. Barack Abdallah led the group in 22.35 seconds, while William Stiska was .01 seconds behind. Greg Palma placed eighth at 22.43 seconds.
 
Up next, URochester's qualifying individuals will compete at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championships next Wednesday and Thursday afternoon at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA.
