The men's tennis team defeated Wesleyan (CT) College and New York University on Saturday in New England.
The Yellowjackets defeated Wesleyan, 5-1, and NYU, 4-2. No doubles matches were played in either team match.
Rochester improved to 8-6 overall and has won eight of its last 10 matches.
Partha Bhattacharya, Avinash Reddy, and Dan Williford won twice for the Yellowjackets in singles play. Bhattacharya won 6-4, 7-6 (2) against Wesleyan and 6-3, 6-2 vs. NYU at #3 singles. Reddy, playing in the #4 position, won, 6-1, 6-2 vs. Wesleyan and 6-4, 6-2 against NYU.
Williford won, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-5 in the super tiebreaker against Wesleyan at #1. He won his first set, 6-2, vs. NYU then won the match when his opponent retired.
Against Wesleyan, Colin Ryan won, 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles and Mike Lee won, 7-5, 6-2 at #6 singles.
Rochester loss came at #5 singles when Josh Bruce-Black lost, 6-7, 1-6.
In the match vs. the Violets, Eric Prince won, 6-2, 7-5 at #5 singles. Ryan split his first two sets, then had to retire. Lee was beaten in straight sets, 1-6, 4-6, at #6.
