ORLANDO, Fla. - The men's tennis team defeated Bentley and Drew in Florida to improve to 2-1 on the spring trip after a 7-2 loss to Coe College.
Ryan Kovaleski won in three at #2 singles vs. Coe, 4-6, 7-6, 14-12. He teammed with Brian Bowman to win the first doubles point, 9-8.
Rochester won the top four singles positions and the first two doubles events vs. Bentley. Bowman won, 6-1, 6-1, at #1. Kovaleski won, 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) at #2. Peterson lost only one point (6-0, 6-1) at #3. Patrick Sheehan won, 2-6, 6-2, 10-3 at #4. Bowman and Kovaleski won, 8-4 at #1 doubles while Peterson and Dan Barbash won, 9-7, at #2 doubles.
Drew, which is picked as the pre-season favorite to win the Landmark Conference, put up a strong battle before Rochester prevailed, 5-4. The Yellowjackets won at #2 and #3 doubles with Peterson and Barbash winning, 8-5, at #2, Sheehan and Adam Crosby, 8-5, at #3.
Bowman won, 6-3, 7-5, at #1 singles. Kovaleski was a three-set winner at #2, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4. Barbash won, 6-4, 6-0, at #6.
