The nation's top two men's tennis programs will be on display this weekend when the University of Rochester hosts the 2009 University Athletic Association men's tennis championships.

Current rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association show Emory University ranked number one and Washington University in St. Louis ranked number two.

Action begins on Friday with four quarterfinal matches. Two matches will be held at 9 am and two others at 1:30 pm. On Saturday, the consolation matches will be held at 9 am. The semifinal matches will begin at 1:30 pm.

Winners of the consolation matches will play for fifth place at 5 pm on Saturday. The consolation match losers will play at 5 pm also to determine seventh place.

Sunday has been set aside for the third place match and the championship match. Each begins at 9 am at different locations.

Tournament organizers have devised both an outdoor schedule and an indoor schedule. The outdoor plan will use the Peter Lyman Tennis Center, located on Wilson Blvd. just beyond Library Road and Fauver Stadium. Outdoor matches are also scheduled at Pittsford Mendon High School on Friday and Saturday.

The seventh place match Saturday will be held at Thornell Farm Park. Pittsford Mendon will host Sunday's third place match. The Peter Lyman Tennis Center will host the championship match.

If weather pushes the competition indoors, the matches will be held in the Robert Goergen Athletic Center, at Midtown Tennis, and at Mendon Tennis.

The Goergen Center will host quarterfinals on Friday featuring the first and second seeds (against #8 and #7 respectively). The quarters involving #4 vs. #5 will be played at Mendon Tennis with the #3-#6 match at Midtown Tennis.

Saturday's semifinal (1/8 winner vs. 4/5 winner) is scheduled for the Goergen Athletic Center. The 2/7 vs. 3/6 semifinal will be played at Midtown tennis. Both semis begin at 1:30 pm.

In the consolation bracket, matches begin at 8:30 am at the Goergen Center and Mendon Tennis. The fifth place match is set for Midtown Tennis at 5 pm. The seventh place match will be held at the Goergen Athletic Center at 5 pm.

On Sunday, the third place match will be at Midtown Tennis at 9 am with the championship match at the Goergen Center, also at 9 am.

Emory has defeated Washington in each of the last three seasons to win the title. The Eagles have won 20 of the 21 previous men's tennis titles. Brandeis won the 1989 championship.

Rochester has finished as the UAA runnerup six times, most recently in 2005. From 2001-2005, the Yellowjackets finished third four times and second once.
