WALTHAM, Mass – In the opening round of the UAA Men's Tennis Championship, Rochester fell to second-ranked and top seeded Emory University, 9-0.
The match is being hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. The Yellowjackets will take on host Brandeis in the second round; the Judges fell to 17th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University, 6-3.
Emory opened the scoring by taking all three doubles matches. The Eagles second doubles team which consisted of Ayush Bajoria and Noah Simonson defeated Matt Volkov and Jeff Zink, 8-2. Fellow teammates Chris Goodwin and Will Humphreys posted an 8-1 victory at first doubles against Boris Borovcanin and Brian Rice. Colin Egan and Dillon Pottish closed out doubles play for Emory as they posted an 8-3 win at third doubles against Dan Barbash and John Lewis Etter.
The Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Emory improves to 18-3 on the season, Rochester moves to 11-9 on the year.
